The Bonnie Schreck Memorial Complementary Therapies Program was established in 1999 in memory of Bonnie Schreck, a philanthropist and long time resident of Las Vegas.
Her husband created the program as a tribute to her.
Patients and family members request various therapies and techniques, such as massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, art, energy work and pet therapy to help ease emotional and physical discomfort. Each therapy can provide a calming and soothing environment for the patient and family.
Complementary Therapies is a growing field of study comprising a multitude of disciplines that work in conjunction with Western medicine – thus the name “complementary.” Although effective for underlying emotional issues like stress, anxiety and sadness, many complementary therapy modalities show remarkable benefits for a wide array of physical symptoms as well. This program is a welcome and successful addition to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
The name Complementary Therapies is based on a belief that there are interventions that complement traditional medical treatments.
